AUSTRIA – Hintertux

Early season skiing … Telemark or Alpine.

LEVELS:

First week: 2 – 5
Second week: 2 – 4

Hintertux is one of Europe's highest ski areas with skiing all year on the glacier – the winter snow usually builds up from late September and by November the quality is superb. In November ’07 runs were complete to the valley floor!
There's a complete range of piste skiing from the easiest of ‘blues’ to challenging ‘blacks’. In November, even though the skiing is confined to the extensive glacier, there are often opportunities for off-piste.
5 x half days (out of 6 days) Telemark instruction with plenty of 'free' skiing; video feedback also available.
Ideal for early season skills focus, to enhance your skiing in the main part of the season – or simply because you couldn't wait any longer!
High levels of comfort and food at the hotels - and that unique Austrian après ski to enjoy, if you so choose!

What others have said about the Tignes week:
"I just wanted to say a big thank you for three brilliant weeks. The instruction was great and, though still lacking style, stability and elbows, I'm a lot more confident now in both telemark and general downhill skiing. Grahame provided great instruction."

FRANCE – Les Contamines

A little-known resort with great teaching / learning terrain in an extensive and very scenic ski area.

LEVELS: 2 – 5
Les Contamines has a wonderful ski area with sheltered pistes in the trees, open runs for confidence building, convenient off-piste, excursions over to the even quieter Hautluce area – and the Mt Blanc range as an awe-inspiring backdrop.

5 x half days (out of 6 days skiing) Telemark instruction with plenty of 'free' skiing. Suitable for most levels of Telemark skier (level 2 upwards), with great tele beginner terrain and ideal for 'Alpine converters'. As usual, we plan to ski some off-piste – conditions permitting.
Les Contamines is small resort set in a wonderful forested valley; lack of a throbbing night-life is offset by quiet pistes, snow reliability and the great food and welcome of our chosen hotel!

What people have said about previous
Telemark trips to La Thuile:

"Back in dreary Britain here – groan ... this is just to say thanks again for another great week. Very, very enjoyable and as usual is inspiring me to do more as soon as possible ... was actually contemplating emigrating to New Zealand for the summer so I can get another seasons in ... is this getting obsessive I ask myself?"
J.W., April, 2004

"Firstly, thanks very much for a fantastic holiday. I really enjoyed it and I'm very pleased you pushed us hard to get that tele-turn right."
E.H., January, 2004

"Just a quick thanks for the week at La Thuile in Jan. I really noticed that I had improved, even my mates mentioned it. Just thinking about those lessons and advice got me through. I just need to get some decent skis now!"

I.M., January, 2005

"Thanks for a brilliant week, I really appreciated all the time and effort you put in. Looking forward to freeing the heel next season!"

SWITZERLAND – Andermatt

Nice village, quiet ski areas, easy access and loads of snow – what more does a Telemark skier need?

LEVELS: 3 – 4
Andermatt is cradled deep in the Swiss Alps, with easy and direct access from the airports - and is simply surrounded by great skiing!
The Gurschen and Gemstock area offers big descents and some immaculate pistes; the Natschen area has sunny, easier runs; Oberalp, a short train ride away, is a hidden gem of on- and off-piste delights!
Andermatt has a developing reputation as one of the best off-piste resorts in the Alps … and the on-piste is pretty good as well!
5 x half days ski instruction and 1 day ‘free’.
Although not an ‘off-piste course’ as such the focus will be towards developing skills for off-piste skiing – which we will be doing!
